Warren County law enforcement, firemen and rescue personnel spent much of Saturday trying to keep people safe as rising water forced the closure of many roads and the attempted evacuation of some residents from their homes.
Early Saturday morning, rescue personnel were called to the Hills Creek Road area of Irving College when water began rising rapidly due to heavy rains. As homes were threatened by floodwaters, rescue squads from Warren and White Counties, sheriff’s deputies, volunteer firefighters and TWRA used boats to bring some residents to dry land. However, the trapped residents decided to stay put instead of being rescued.
Law enforcement and highway department workers were busy during the day putting up cones and barricades after many road and streets became flooded and impassible.
Similar instances happened all across Tennessee as weather systems brought heavy rains and high winds across the state.
