The Warren County School District is the recipient of one of eight state wide grants to improve music and arts education. The new, competitive grant opportunity is focused on expanding students’ access to high-quality music and arts education statewide and was made possible by a $1 million investment from the CMA Foundation.
The local grant money in the amount of $124,000 will be used for items such as purchasing a keyboard lab, instruments and equipment, curriculum method books and instructional materials, instructional technology, music literature and library and more.
The grant was written by a team of music instructors in the school district, led by WCHS teacher Kennette Dixon.
Warren County Director of Schools Bobby Cox said the grant will help improve the school district’s music equipment and instructional materials and provide much needed funding for the program.
