A Cookeville man was arrested early Friday morning on Highway 56 in Warren Co.
According to Sheriff Clint Shrum of the Grundy Co. Sheriffs Dept. deputies were doing a patrol in Tarlton Valley, when they observed a red car traveling toward Warren County while coming up the mountain toward Altamont. They observed that the vehicle had no taillights, and the driver was using both lanes of travel. Deputies observed there was no vehicle tag either. The vehicle took off at a faster rate of speed headed toward Warren County.
During the pursuit, there was a bag of some sort that came from the driver?s side window. It appeared that the driver was possible under the influence and was driving very reckless even almost going into the ditch on the opposite side of the road.
After passing Irving College, Warren county deputies helped in the chase and had spikes deployed and was a successful deployment.
Deputies were then able to catch up to the vehicle that was going into McMinnville city. The vehicle was disable and was driving on the rim. The vehicle finally came to a complete stop in the middle of the road and, with the help of Warren Co. deputies, three men were arrested. One of them was the driver, 21 year old Cory Len Curtis of Cookeville. Upon getting him out of the vehicle there were 7 small white baggies in the drivers seat. After searching Curtis they found a meth pipe. Curtis admitted to doing meth earlier in the day. He is charged with evading arrest, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, manufacture, selling and possession of a controlled substance, registration violation and DUI. He will appear in court on April 8. His bond has not been set.
