28 year old Garrett Lance appeared in General Sessions Court Tuesday answering to several charges from an incident last Friday. Judge Bill Locke asked Lance if he needed an attorney appointed for him and Lance said he was able to make bond and did not need it. His next appearance will be April 29.
Lance is charged with tampering of evidence, possession of meth, first offense DUI, reckless endangerment and evading arrest. According to Sheriff Tommy Myers Lance was observed by deputies doing a hand off to another man at Dollar General on Manchester Highway. When the deputy initiated a stop he passed him and exited the parking lot. Lance was seen throwing a bag out of the window believed to be methamphetamine and continued until he came to a stop at a residence on Country Club Drive. Lance had grabbed a substance, which was later determined to be a ball of heroin, and threatened to commit suicide. It ended a short time later when Lance surrendered peacefully. Deputies searched Lance and found a half an ounce of meth
