Tidwell Services Set For Thursday

The Warren Co. community is still reeling from the news of Warren Co. Middle School Principal Gerald Tidwell’s passing Saturday while umpiring a District 8-AAA Tournament game in Manchester. He was 54. In the game, the fourth inning has just ended and as the fifth inning was about to start Tidwell was seen going to one knee and collapsing on the game between first base and home plate. Tidwell was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Manchester where he was pronounced dead.
The game was tied at 3-3 between Coffee Co. and Shelbyville and was suspended til Sunday.
Director of Schools Grant Swallows said that he will miss greatly that encouragement, his leadership, and the man that we called our friend.
Tidwell was about to complete his 10th year as principal of Warren Co. Middle School. He was hired in that position in July 2011.
Services for Tidwell will be Thursday May 13 at 2pm at the Covenant Fellowship Church. Visitation at Covenant will be Wednesday from 2pm-8pm and Thursday from 9am-1:30pm.
