A house on Old Viola Road was deemed a total loss Monday morning. According to McMinnville Fire Chief Kendall Mayfield they received a call at 9:10am Monday morning of a house fire on Old Viola Road. When they arrived one of the tenants, Annie Melson, had made it out and received no injuries. About 50 percent of the house was engulfed with flames and it was also told to the firefighters that Melson’s 25 year old grandson was still inside but later learned that he left and didn’t tell his gramdmother.
Mayfield said the fire started in the back of the house. Melson said she had put a load of clothes in the washer and a short time the house was engulfed in flames. Mayfield said the cause of the fire was bad wiring.The home was specualted to be around 70-80 years old.
