School is two weeks away and the Warren Co. Board of Education Monday night approved the 2021-22 Schools Operations Procedures. Director of Schools Grant Swallows said schools will be returning to a 5 day a week in-person learning. Last school year the system was four day a week in-person with Friday a virtual learning day. Swallows said this will be the case unless Governor Lee declares another state of emergency. As far as COVID-19 protocols Swallows said masks will be optional. He said it would be the students’ personal choice. Should a student test positive for the coronavirus then the students will be isolated and ones that come into contact will be quarantined.
In other business, the board talked about purchasing 12 acres of land next to Hickory Creek Elementary to be used to create a new entrance area for the school. Swallows said the owners are asking for 325 thousand with 100 thousand donated back as a tax write off. The board voted to move forward with negotiations.
