City Passes 2021-2022 Budget

During the Tuesday night meeting of the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Alderman the board passed unanimously the budget for 2021-2022 fiscal year. Alderman Everett Brock said the budget will start at 5 million and is projected to be at 3.8 million by June 30,2022. The board also passed the tax rate of 1.84 per 100 dollars of assessed value. The city has had no tax increase since 2010.
Also passed was a resolution to follow the State Comptroller’s Budget Cycle Timeline to include a 5th goal in trying to have the budget for 2022-2023 ready by July 1 next year.
In committee news, Chief Nichole Mosley discussed purchasing a Police K-9 Narcotics and Search and Rescue tracking dog for the department. The low bid came from Blue Line K-9 out of Cookeville for 9,000 dollars, which includes all the training and certifications. It will be brought before the board August 10. ALso the board accepted a bid for 6,500 dollars for a new AC unit for Fire Station 2. And David Barett was recommended for the new Commnity Development Director.
