***BREAKING NEWS*** Jury selection was to begin today for 30 year old Wesley Leverette. He was charged with one count of first degree murder in the February 2017 of 55 year old Barry Cole at a residence on Lind St. Calling it a good day for the State of Tennessee and our community District Attorney General Lisa Zavogiannis told our news department that the Cole family received justice today. Leverette has told the judge that he was not guilty four years ago. Had he gone to trial and been convicted he could have faced life without the possibility of parole, but agreed to a plea deal of second degree murder and will spend the next 35 years in prison, which he will serve 100 percent. Leverette will not get out of prison until the age of 65. Defense attorney Joshua Crain was not available for comment at press time.
The case had been delayed for four years due to defense motions and the pandemic. Zavogiannis went on to say the plea ensures that our community is safe, he can no longer hurt anyone else, and he is in prison where he belongs.
