Warren Co. Schools Closed Due To COVID-19 Staff, Student Issues

In a press release Friday Director of Schools Grant Swallows said that Warren Co. Schools will be closed beginning Monday August 30 and will reopen Tuesday September 7. Swallows said it was a decision he didn’t want to make because kids need to be in school learning but sickness is an issue and so is staffing. Friday it was reported that 228 students and 23 staff members have been isolated, meaning they have tested positive. More than 1000 students have been identified as being in close contact.
In the 2020-2021 school year officials would have gone to virtual learning but that is not an option unless you’re enrolled in Warren Connect. Instead Swallows said they will use five days set aside for inclement weather leaving five days for the rest of the school year. Extracurricular activities are on a case by case basis as schools will undergo a thorough cleaning.
Swallows added that this closure is an opportunity to reset and hope to get healthier and return with a concentration on the well being and education of students.
Warren Co. is one of many in middle Tennessee closing due to covid staff issues.
