A McMinnville man was injured Tuesday afternoon in a one vehicle wreck on Highway 8.
According to Trooper Ben Cannon of the Tennessee Highway Patrol a 2007 Chevy Impala, driven by 37 year old Justin Prater, was traveling north on Highway 8 when he told Cannon he dropped his cell phone in the floorboard. He reached down to retrieve it and he then crossed the southbound lane, hit a ditch line, then to Mountain top Lane, went airborne and struck a pine tree.
Prater sustained lower back and a spinal injury. He was transported by ambulance to River Park and from there was transported to Erlanger.
Prater was cited for talking on a cell phone, failure to maintain his lane, not wearing a seatbelt, and driving under the influence of medication. It was believed he was taking Percocet and Xanax.
