Sales Tax Revenues Up Over 17 Percent

Tennessee revenues were more than the budgeted estimates for the first month of the state?s fiscal year. Finance and Administration Commissioner Butch Eley reported that August revenues were $1.4 billion, which is $255.8 million more than August 2020, and $267.9 million more than the budgeted estimates. The growth rate for all taxes in August was 22.11 percent.
Warren Co. collected 1,264,795 dollars, up 17.1 percent compared to 1,080,324 in August 2020. In the last 12 months, sales tax collections are at 14,976,176, almost 19 percent more at this time last year.
In other counties White County was listed at $649,554 for August 2021 compared to $545,252 for August 2020. State sales tax collections were $2,936,790 for August 2021, with August 2020 showing $2,739,520, up 7.2 percent.
Van Buren County listed $123,752 in local sales tax collections for August 2021, compared to $93,870, in August 2020. State sales collections came in at $198,440 for August 2021, down 1.1 percent from 200,621 for August 2020.
General fund revenues were $247.9 million more than the August estimate. The four other funds that share in state tax revenues were $20 million more than the estimates.
Sales tax revenues were $205.9 million more than the estimate for August. The August growth rate was 21.73 percent.
