A Warren Co. woman was injured in a two vehicle crash Monday morning crash in Dekalb Co. that claimed the life of a Dekalb Co. High School senior, 18 year old Cassie Maxwell of Alexandria. Injured was 24 year old Carly Newby of Rock Island.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol around 7:15am Newby was traveling west on Highway 70 in a 2021 Nissan Rogue when a 2018 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Maxwell, was negotiating a right curve and crossed into the continuous turn lane and struck Newby head-on. Newby was injured and transported to the hospital while Maxwell was pronounced dead at the scene. THP said both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
