Around 150 citizens turned out Thursday afternoon for a rally for 3rd District County Commissioner Joseph Stotts, who announced that he will seek the office of county executive in 2022.
Stotts said in his speech to his supporters that he will stand for what’s just and true. He added his leadership will be focused on people and believes in fairness to all and not be influenced by money or status, low taxes and balanced budget, supporting small business and jobs and law enforcement.
Stotts, who grew up in Morrison, said he’s no stranger to struggles as they grew up in public housing. He told his supporters he and his family was thankful for their support.
With Stotts announcing his candidacy it creates an opening for a seat in the 3rd district. The local democratic and republican primaries will be held May 3,2022 with the general election in August 2022.
