23 year old Dominique Desean Cox appeared for arraignment in General Sessions Court Tuesday on one count of domestic assault of his grandmother. The incident took place last week at Three Star Mall near Kroger. Cox reportedly asked his mother for some prescription medicine. When she refused he used a pipe to assault her. He then proceeded to use the pipe on her vehicle causing significant damage. Witnesses say he fled the scene on foot and was tracked down a half mile down the road on Sparta St. and was arrested. He remain jailed on 50,000 bond and will appear again two weeks.
This is the second incident between Cox and his grandmother. Back in July of this year fire officials were called out to her home on Old Viola Road. When they arrived ox’s grandmother had made it out and received no injuries. About 50 percent of the house was engulfed with flames and it was also told to the firefighters that Cox was still inside but later learned that he left and didn’t tell his grandmother.
The fire started in the back of the house. she had put a load of clothes in the washer and a short time the house was engulfed in flames. Cox has not been charged in connection with that fire. Officials determined it to be bad wiring.
